With the sun making an appearance more regularly and people coming out of winter hibernation it’s that time of year again when country fairs, spring fetes and summer bonanza ‘s take place. A perfect excuse to grab the family for a day out and enjoy what local towns and villages have to offer. Whether it be gardening, craft or agricultural every show has something to offer you and your family.

Here at Lorem, not only does the start of fair time means that summer is edging closer, the evenings are lighter and the days longer. It also means that we are able to get out and about to meet and talk to new people about what we do and see those people who we have met before and returned every year to their favourite shows! There is always that “what if the weather isn’t quite as we’d like it to be”…. Well come rain or shine (we hope for the shine), every show is an amazing opportunity to learn and see new things and meet new people.

So in this blog, we’ve broken down for you our whereabouts over the next few months and what each show has to offer.

Thame Game and Country Fair – 16th and 17th April

A game and country fair with a twist! Oxfordshire leading country show –back for the 17th year running. With 3 main arenas, amazing stuntmen showcasing their skill, a moment in time re-enacting the best of living history, the world of dogs arena and Hektor the big yellow show dog meeting and greeting the children. This show is not to be missed along with all the other things the show has to offer.

Harrogate Flower Show – 20th to 23rd April

Our biggest show this month, covering 4 days and widely regarded as the most prestigious independent shows in gardening Harrogate Flower show is not to be missed! In addition to hosting over 100 plants and nurseries, the show features the work of both established and up and coming garden designers and landscapers. The show includes such things as kitchen garden live, feast food theatre, va va bloom and exciting display of flower arrangers work with great garden shopping and lovely crafts and gifts.

RHS Garden Show Hyde Hall – Essex Craft and design show – 28th April to 1st May

Celebrating the best in contemporary craft, art and locally produced food RHS Garden Show Hyde Hall is well known for its beautiful surroundings and style. This show hosts many artists, designers, makers and craftsmen showcasing and selling the very best in fine art, jewellery, ceramics, textiles and contemporary crafts.

Downtown Cuckoo Fair – Saturday 29th April

A family friendly fair held on the village green with over 20,000 visitors attending. A wide range of 250 craft, gift, homeware and food and drink stalls. There is something for all the family with demonstrations, Punch and Judy, fairground ride and lots more. It’s a village fair not to miss out on!

RHS Malvern – 11th to 14th May

Set in the beautiful Malvern Hills, this show is full of spring festivities. Packed with flowers, crafts, food and family fun. Lose yourself in the floral marquee and pick up tips from the experts. The show brings together inspirtational ideas and artistic flair.

Nottingham County Show – 13th to 14th May

A fabulous county family show hosting attractions, stalls and activities for all ages. With countryside area, inspired performance shows, family zone, music marquee, dogs and more, the sheep show and many other things. This show is a definite must if you’re in the area. Devon county show – 18th to 20th May 

With farming at the heart of the show, this show is guarantee to cover all thing agricultural. A thrilling programme of activities to keep everyone entertained. There’ll be literally thousands of animals – from exceptional livestock to dazzling Arab horses, family ponies, canine superstars competing in the pedigree Dog Show, lofty alpacas and pigeons, rabbits and guinea pigs. The Monster Truck Display team will be there to show you their driving skills and give you a ride and you can have a go at driving a tractor!

Watercress Festival Alresford – Sunday 21st May

A nationally acclaimed annual festival bring together thousands of visitors from local and a far. The market town is turned for the day into a huge street festival. With homemade produce, craft stalls, local businesses, children’s activities, petting zoo, falconry displays and celebrity chefs it’s a date for the diary. Take a ride on the Watercress Steam Line and experience everything this town has to offer.

Kent Flower Show –  27th to 29th May

With over 300 exhibitors with a variety of goods on display and for sale, this garden show is buzzing with talent and flair. Displays from Chelsea flower show, medal winners, crafts, food, entertainment and children’s rides Kent Garden show is perfect to end you last weekend in May or have a bank holiday day out.
